Goodwill International School Sponsorship Program

GIS was the first school in Lebanon to adopt and implement the best practices of the Finnish educational system as it represents the core essence of empowering and better equiping our children for the future. Unfortunately, the past year has been extremely challenging, for long and well established schools, let alone a new and truly independent one, to say the least, and many other obstacles await us in the year to come. Simply put, we are unable to exercise our mission as a school since many parents are unable to pay the tuition fees.

We have not and will never ask any student to leave the school for financial reasons, especially during such dark days. Since last year, we have tried to the best of our capabilities to assist the parents by offering flexible and extended payment modes, as well as by providing discounts as much as possible. Nevertheless, even such measures are not sufficient enough for many, especially those parents who have no income. The parents’ committee is also trying its best, albeit the limited means and the dire situation which keeps on worsening.

  • All schools in this country are suffering and many have already closed their doors. Thankfully, the French and francophone schools are getting financial support from the French government whereas Catholic schools are getting some assistance from their owners: i.e. the monastic orders or the bishops.

  • Consequently, the only viable solution as GIS being neither a francophone school nor a religiously affiliated one, would be through direct and immediate assistance from outside the country.

Tuition Fees

For perspective, we currently have more than 40 students whose parents have not paid their children’s tuition fees for the academic year of 2021-2022. One hence could safely assume that with the worsening conditions in the country, the same will apply for the coming year as well.
